Baby, it’s COLD outside!
Even though I have my Red Sox Snuggie, I’m still cold! Maybe I need this ceramic space heater. It’s on sale for just under twenty bucks, with free shipping, and it’s small enough to put under my desk, at me feet. And it will certainly help us save money on oil heating bills. We use a larger, oscillating space heater in the bedroom, and it’s helped a lot.
Space heaters are safe as long as you are careful. The newer ones come with all sorts of safety features, such as thermostats, and automatic shutoff if it gets knocked over. So, if you have a really old space heater, it’s worth your while to get rid of it, and buy a newer one. The newer ones are more energy efficient, anyway.
But still, never run a space heater when you’re not at home, never keep it too close to curtains or anything else that could catch fire. And if you have small children, always keep an eye on them, don’t let them touch the heater at all. All in all, these appliances are MUCH safer than other heating methods that people use, such as turning on the oven and leaving it on to heat the kitchen. Although we all want to save money on heating bills…after all, that means more money for baseball tickets come spring…we also want to be safe!

Also, I wanted to let you know about that Netbook Mate gadget that I wrote about here. I ordered it, and I got it the other day. It was a good purchase, although I had a little frustration with it at first, and almost returned it. You see, my netbook has a Linux operating system. Although the system recognized the presence of the external drives, when I tried to play a DVD in it, it would not play in the computer’s media player. Turns out that the Linux media player won’t play most commercial DVDs, because of some licensing fee crap. But I did a little online research, and found a small program to download, which enabled the media player to play any DVD. So now I’m happy!
Stay warm, baseball is just around the corner!
