Brockton Rox make *her-story* tonight!
Tonight, Justine Siegal made her debut as the first female coach in men’s professional baseball. Story here.
Siegal is the new head coach of the Brockton Rox, part of the independent Can-Am League. Her debut was a successful one, as the Rox beat the visiting Sussex Skyhawks, 6-2.
So now I must apologize for ranting a few months back about the Rox having cheerleaders. I still think the idea of cheerleaders in baseball is obnoxious, but I have to love a team who will hire a woman as a head coach. I’ll definitely be buying tickets, if for nothing more than to see Justine in action.
Way to go, Rox!

Siegal is the assistant coach of the Rox. Chris Carminucci is the first-year manager, but like you said, it is still impressive. She is also the assistant to the head coach at Springfield College.
