Did the Sox “dodge” a bullet by trading Manny?
Could be! According to the Los Angeles Times, Manny Ramirez tested positive for drugs and has been suspended for 50 games. And they’re not talking weight loss pills here, either…the Times article reports that it was performance-enhancing drugs.
As of now, nothing has been officially announced by the Dodgers or Major League Baseball, an announcement is expected to take place later today.
If this turns out to be true…just WOW! Another reason the Sox should be glad he’s gone. Personally, I am glad he’s gone, simply because I was getting tired of the whole “Manny being Manny” thing year after year. It was bad for the team, and since the trade last year, several Sox players, including Kevin Youkilis, came forward and said that the clubhouse was a much better place without Manny.
We’ll just have to wait and see how this story unfolds!
