Do You Dream of Being a Pro Ballplayer?
Many do. But the reality of it is that for all who try out, very few actually make it. And to make matters worse, some make NO alternate plans for making a living. So when they don’t make it, they end up getting some crap job, like pumping gas or bagging groceries.
So, definitely go and try out for minor league teams. The independent league Brockton Rox are having a two-day tryout event in May, designed for players who haven’t been drafted, or otherwise overlooked by the scouts. Who knows, this could be your chance?
But don’t put all of your eggs into that one basket! If you are not in college, you need to consider going. It doesn’t have to be a traditional school; in fact, more and more people are considering earning an online degree these days. There are many advantages, such as the comfort of studying and learning at home, no stressful commute, and lower tuition costs.
Western Governor’s University is a fully-accredited online school, with an excellent reputation. A popular program is their online IT degree program, which includes a variety of programs for both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. There are tons of jobs in Information Technology, as just about every company has an IT department these days. Someone has to handle the company’s computer networks, databases, worry about security, and all. WGU’s degree programs provide all you need to qualify for one of these jobs, they offer all of the assorted certifications that the top employers are looking for these days.
If you want to be a pro ballplayer, good luck! But don’t forget to cover all of your bases, and either stay in school, or enroll in school. You won’t regret it in the long run!
