Farewell, MerchantsAuto.com Stadium
…at least for now. The Fisher Cats are all done for the season.
We went to the next-to-last home game of the season on Wednesday night. Although the Cats lost to the Binghamtom Mets, it was still a good time.
I got the Clay Buchholz bobblehead that they were giving away…in fact, we have two of them, but Mike got one, too. But he doesn’t collect these things, so I keep all of his in the boxes, soon I need to take them to storage. A few years from now, they might be worth something, and eBay, here I come!
I also got my Ted Williams bobblehead, that the Fisher Cats were giving away for those who bought season tickets and mini-plans. We just got one of those, and I’m keeping it.
And I got to speak to Dennis Meehan, the head ticket guy for the Fisher Cats, who was so nice to me when I was buying this year’s mini-plan. He told me about the mini plans that will be sold for next year, thankfully, we can get our Sunday plan again, plus some add-on tickets of our choice, if we want to. I want. So I’m planning Mike’s birthday at the ballpark next May, two nights at the Hilton Garden Inn near the ballpark, and three games. I can’t wait until the mini-plans go on sale, should be sometime in October.
But a late night in the middle of the week is rough on Mike, too bad we didn’t stay at the hotel, or at least have him take Thursday off. I was wishing for some Starbucks coffee in order to stay awake on the drive home, and so was Mike. But we made it home alive…at least there wasn’t too much traffic.
I’m gonna miss that old ball yard over the winter. I thought I heard something about an old-timers’ game being played there in September, for charity, but I can’t find the info. I’m sure the Fisher Cats will send out an email about it when the time gets closer.
When I know, so will you!
