Fire, fire!
So, it looked like a lot of people had to miss most of last night’s Sox game. If they were on their way to Fenway, and needed to use the MBTA Orange or Red Line trains, they were out of luck. Two separate electrical fires shut down the subway system for hours. Many others were on their way home from work, hoping to be able to watch the game on TV, but they were stranded, too.
Fortunately, the fires were put out, and nobody was hurt.
Our fire service professionals are people who we often take for granted. But they put their lives on the line every day, in the name of keeping us all safe.
Sadly, a lot of firefighters are being laid off due to budget cuts. That’s why it could be an excellent investment to go for further education, and earn a Bachelor of arts in fire service. Students will learn all of the administrative, organizational, and leadership skills that they’ll need in order to advance their careers and make themselves more recession-proof.
Management and leadership positions include not only fire chief and fire marshall, but one could also work for the National or State Parks services as a fire prevention administrator.
The good news is that you can still work at your current job while going to school. Lewis University offers online courses, right from the comfort of your own home. No having to spend hours commuting to classes,or worrying about getting stranded on the MBTA on the way to/from school!
As for that Sox game last night…I hope that most of those who were stranded last night at least caught the end of it. It was a good one!
