Fourth of July Weekend in Brockton

July 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

I’ve already talked about the 4th of July weekend stuff going on at the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ ballpark.  But for those of you who live further down south and don’t feel like driving all the way up to Manchester, here’s another option:  the Brockton Rox.

The Rox are a part of the independent CanAm League, and play at beautiful Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, MA.  If you’ve never been there, you should definitely give it a try…you will have a lot of fun there.  As they like to say, “Fun Is Good” ! :D

Right after tomorrow night’s game vs. the Worcester Tornadoes (who happen to be managed by former Red Soxer Rich Gedman), there will be a fireworks display.  I’ve seen the fireworks shows they do there, they are very impressive.

Gametime is 7:05 PM

On Saturday, July 5, there will be a post-game concert by “Fat Angus”, an AC/DC tribute band.  Gametime is scheduled for 6:05 PM

Sunday, July 6th’s game is set to start at 5:05 PM.  They will be giving away these nifty Ben Franklin bobbleheads, courtesy of the Freemasons, to the first 1,000 fans who enter the ballpark.  I’d love to have one of these, but we can’t make it to this game, we already have tickets for the Fisher Cats that day.

Sunday is also family Fun Day at Campanelli Stadium, with games of catch on the field (before the game), and kids get to run the bases after the game.  There will also be the usual face-painting and balloon animal making.

Finally, Monday, July 7 is another “Kids Eat Free” day.  Buy your kid a box seat, and they will get a voucher for a free hot dog, chips, and a soda.  This is the final game in the series against the Tornadoes, and starts at 5:05 PM.

Gates open one hour before scheduled gametime, so if you want to get a bobblehead or anything else they might be giving away, get there early.  There is plenty of parking available at the Brockton High School parking lot, cost of just $4.00.  To avoid having to wait in a “Will-Call” line for tickets, you can order yours at brocktonrox.com and print them out at home or work.

Happy Fourth of July to all! :D
