Good game last night

So we watched the Mannies Dodgers play the Phillies last night.  It was nice to see Derek Lowe pitching, I don’t think we’ve seen him pitch much since he left the Sox.  And we saw old friend Nomar in the dugout with a bat, maybe if the Dodgers had managed to tie the game in the 9th, we might have seen him pinch-hit.  I’ve always liked Nomar, and I miss him.

For one brief moment, I wished we still had Manny.  But Buck and McCarver (who is a lot less obnoxious when the Y*****s and/or Red Sox aren’t playing) were saying that Manny is a completely different Manny on LaLaLand than he was here.  Apparently, he’s taken on a leadership role that he never did when he was here, mentoring the younger guys who still need to use Triclear for their zits.  So perhaps it’s all for the best, perhaps it’s just a better fit.  I’m glad it’s working out for them.  It’s good for the Sox, too, because everyone here was getting sick of “Manny being Manny”.

Still, I am rooting for a Phillies/Red Sox World Series.  Then maybe Lisa and I can have a little friendly wager (she likes Philly sports teams).  Even so, there is a part of me who is curious to find out what would happen if Manny returned to Fenway in a Dodgers uniform.  Would he get booed, or cheered?  Maybe a little of each?  At least he didn’t make like Johnny Demon and go to the Y*****s.

So the Phillies won last night, and they are winning now, 4-2 in the bottom of the 3rd.  But you never know what can happen, that is what is so great about this game!
