I think we’ve solved the problem!

I posted last week about Mike’s illness and hospitalization, and his possibly not being able to go to the Fisher Cats Opening Night due to this.

Well, the problem he had turned out to be due to his being stupid in regard to his diabetes.  You can read more HERE as to what exactly was wrong with him.

So, he is out of the hospital now, and is going back to work tomorrow.  The trip is two weeks from tomorrow, and although he is going to put in for the two days off anyway, I am not confident that he will get them.  He does have enough paid time off on the books, he never even applied for short-term disability…but the boss still can deny this because of the sick time he just took.  We shall see.

Anyhoo, now that this hospital incident is over and I have time to think, it occurred to me that there is a way that he can still go, even if he can’t get the time off from work.  Why I didn’t think of this before is beyond me, probably I just was stressed and wasn’t able to properly think!

His work is almost smack in the middle between home and Manchester.  In other words, about a half hour drive either way.  So, instead of going home on April 8, he can drive up to Manchester instead, and meet me in the ballpark.  I will give him his ticket, he knows where I’ll be, because we have the same seats as last year for our mini-plan.  He can park in the hotel parking lot, as I would write down the car license info on the card when I check in.

He would have to pack a bag in the morning and put it in the car before going to work.  And, the next day, he can leave and head to work, and I can stay at the hotel until the 11AM checkout, and return home on the bus on which I arrived.  At my leisure.  And he’d still get to work at the same time as always, without driving any longer than he usually does.

Maybe he will get the time off after all, but who knows?  Maybe if he had more in the way of sales training, he could BS his way into anything.  But that is not his forté, so I don’t know how successful he would be.

But at least we have a solution, so he won’t have to miss it completely!
