I wish we could go…

January 10th, 2008 · No Comments

…to the 2008 Granite State Baseball Dinner that is being held by the New Hampshire Fisher Cats tomorrow night. There are going to be a lot of important baseball people there, such as former Red Sox greats Jim Rice (who I still think should have been elected to the Hall of Fame), Rico Petrocelli, Johnny Pesky, and more.

Since the Fisher Cats are a Class AA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, that team will be well-represented at the dinner. Chris Carpenter and Pat Hentgen are scheduled to attend, and it was just announced that Jays’ GM J.P. Ricciardi is coming, as well.

This is going to be one great event, and I’m sure that they are busy getting the Manchester National Guard Armory in ship-shape, bringing in the nice silverware and fine china, as well as scads of wholesale flowers, to make it all nice and pretty.

In addition to being a fun event for New England baseball fans, this dinner also raises money for charity…the beneficiaries are Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth  (CHaD) and the Fisher Cats Foundation.

Tickets are $60 a pop, if you can make it, visit the box office at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium, order online at nhfishercats.com, or call (603) 641-2005.

If we’d planned ahead, we might have been able to go.  But we didn’t, Mike has to work, and I have no way to get there while he’s working.  I guess we’ll just have to plan better for next year!
