So we TRIED to go to the Nashua Pride game this evening. The pic in the last post shows why it didn’t happen.
The weather was okay for most of the day. We drove up to Nashua, to have a pre-game lunch at Martha’s Exchange in Nashua. This is a really great brewpub that is not far from Holman Stadium at all. I highly recommend it.
At around 4PM, we left the restaurant to head to the ballpark. It’s like a five-minute ride, but the skies opened up no sooner than we were in the car. It was kind of scary, as the rain was pounding down so hard, that it was impossible to see…but there was no safe place to pull over. Oh, I was wishing that I’d gotten myself a life insurance quote, as I was afraid of getting killed by speeding cars who also could not see where the hell they were going.
We did make it to the ballpark, found a parking apace, and then sat in the car for a while, waiting for the rain to let up. While this was happening, I was playing with the radio, and found the radio broadcast of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats game. Obviously, they were out of town, if they are home on a Sunday, we are there. They were in Reading, playing the R-Phils, and obviously it was not raining there, at least not enough to stop the game. And the Fisher Cats won, 6-5, I found out later.
After sitting in the car for a while, I seriously had to pee. So I got out of the car, and went over to the Will-Call window to pick up our tickets. It was still raining, but it had let up quite a bit. I just wanted to get into the ballpark so that I could use the restroom. Which I did, and then I got myself a beer, as we waited under the covered part of the concourse.
The game was to start at 5:05PM. but by 5:30, they called it. So I traded in the tickets for the game next Saturday, August 2…hell, they will be having fireworks! Maybe I will surprise Mike and get us a room at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manchester for that night, as we have a 1:05 PM Fisher Cats game the next day. We shall see! But it might be nice to have another weekend away, and not have to drive all the way home between a night and an afternoon game, especially when said games are something like only 20 or so miles apart.
As I said, we shall see!

Christine...seen here with spousal unit, Mike, and two very cool pieces of hardware!
