So long, and thanks for all the wins!
Curt Schilling officially retires.
This doesn’t surprise me. He’s been plagued with injuries, he’s no longer a spring chicken, it’s time for him to hang it up and go home.
But look at what he gave us, and made him an important part of Red Sox history…

How can we ever forget the infamous bloody sock? I took this pic in October 2005, at the 2004 World Series exhibit at the National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Cooperstown, NY. Like many other residents of Red Sox Nation, we made the pilgrimage to see the infamous bloody sock, and other items from that most historic win.
I was trying to find a video of the Ford commercial Curt did the year he first came to the Sox (2004). In it, he was shown hitchhiking from Arizona to Boston, and he gets picked up by some guy driving a Ford pickup truck. Driver asks where he’s headed, and Curt says, “to Boston, to break an 86 year old curse.”
Well, he did it, and for that, we are all eternally grateful.
Enjoy your retirement, Curt. Spend time with your family, and on your charities.
Finally, here’s a commercial that I did find featuring Curt when he first came here. Enjoy!
Thanks for the memories, Curt!
