It would be hard for me to imagine going to Japan and not doing any sightseeing. But that is exactly what Sox manager Terry Francona is doing…concentrating on the upcoming baseball season, not doing any sightseeing.
He said that he didn’t even realize today was Easter until his little girl told him. Hopefully, the Easter Bunny managed to find the family in Tokyo, and she got a basket full of goodies!
It’s been Easter Sunday over there for quite a while already, hasn’t it? Or it it Monday there now? I’m so confused. Here it is, 11AM Eastern time, and I’m reading on redsox.com about a game that the Sox won on SUNDAY. I just hope the schedule they have on that site for the REAL games, vs. Oakland, are for OUR time and day, and not what it is in Japan. The opener would be at 6AM, tomorrow, our time, right? If I’m gonna drag my ass out of bed to listen to it, they’d best have given me the correct start time and date!

I see that they are already selling tickets to the third annual Futures At Fenway game, to be held August 9. This year, it will be the Lowell Spinners vs. the Hudson Valley Renegades, followed by the PawSox vs. the Charlotte Knights. I don’t think I am going to buy tickets to that this year…honestly, I’d rather go and see the minor league teams in their own parks. Nothing against Fenway Park, of course, but I HATE HATE HATE and DESPISE the MBTA. I especially hate whoever the rocket scientist was who thought it was a good idea to get rid of that second Kenmore Square entrance/exit that was across the street from the one that’s there now, that’s inside that hotel.
Also, the T is forever raising the fares, it seems, and every time they raise the fares, the service gets worse. I can’t remember the last time I took the T and was able to park at either Oak Grove or Wellington, without having to be bused someplace. Hell, I pay $3.50 to park so I can AVOID rising those smelly buses. The day that I hear that they’ve installed air cleaners on those buses might be the day I’ll ride the T again. But, carbon footprint and all that crap be damned, I’d rather go to ball games at places where it is easier and quicker to drive to. Hell, in the times it takes for us to ride to T to Fenway, busing and all, we could just get into the car and make it to McCoy Stadium, and see the PawSox there.
Which reminds me…I do need to see when we can go to some PawSox games, and get some tickets while there are still some halfway decent seats left.

Finally, I heard on the news last night that Jordan’s Furniture is going to do another exciting Red Sox related promotion. You remember how last year, they said that if you came in and bought furniture within a certain timeframe in April, and the Red Sox won the World Series, that furniture would be FREE. Well, as you know, the Sox DID win the World Series, and therefore, there were many happy Jordan’s customers who got rebate checks for the furniture they bought last April.
I really didn’t think they’d be able to do something like this again. They had taken out an insurance policy to do this promotion, and said insurance company had to pay out big time. I’d be surprised if they could get that company, or some other insurance company, to take such a risk again. It will be interesting to see what they do. According to the news source I saw (FOX-25), the new promotion is to be announced on Monday. I guess that’s when we’ll start seeing the new commercials.
Hmmm…maybe this might be a good time to convince Mike that we could use some new furniture around here. You DO know that the Sox are gonna do it again this year, right? ![]()
