…to their winning ways! Nice sweep of the double-header last night!

I was wondering if we’d get home in time to see the first game. Since we don’t have cable, the only times we can actually SEE games is when they’re broadcast on Faux, or if we’re at a bar or someplace that has cable. Faux Sports, as I’ve said many times before, sucks, especially because they have that awful announcer, Tim McCarver.

WannA know how stupid McCarver is? Not that you need me to tell you, we all know how stupid he is. Anyhoo, yesterday, he and the other guy in the booth (it wasn’t Joe Buck this time, it was someone whose name I don’t remember now), were talking about all of the dents in the Green Monster at Fenway. The discussion turned to Bucky Bleepin’ Dent, and McCarver said that Dent hit the infamous home run against the Red Sox in 1968. He did realize his mistake and corrected himself to say that it was in 1978…but jeez…for the Hugh Jass Y***** butt-kisser that he supposedly is, you’d think he’d know this right off the bat. It’s one of the many things that Y***** fans loved to rub in our faces until 2004, right up there with that annoying “1918″ chant.

What a maroon!

Anyhoo, the reason we almost didn’t get home in time for the first pitch was that we got stuck in traffic behind this little old lady who was doing about 2 MPH. We were coming home from grocery shopping at Shaw’s, and were stuck behind her about half the way home. There was no way to pass her, and no good detour that would have been any faster. She eventually did speed up to a lightening fast 10 MPH, but slowed down again. She’s lucky not to have an imprint of our Ford grill in the rear end of her Toyota. It was really hard NOT to hit her, the way she was driving.

Today’s game will be on NESN and on WRKO, time 1:35. Josh Beckett will be the starter for this one, to try to get the sweep.
