Then you might want to attend the fourth annual “Hit For Kids” Charity Baseball Event. It will be held at MerchantAuto.com Stadium, home of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The date is Saturday, September 20, and gates open at 3:30 PM for the free instructional baseball clinic for kids. The old-timers’ game is set to begin at 6:15 PM. The money raised will go to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manchester, NH.
You can go HERE to order tickets in advance for $10 a pop. Or pay at the door for $15. All seating is general admission.
From the website:
Join former Boston Red Sox and Major League All-Star alumni in an “Old Timers” game to support the Boys and Girls Clubs in NH. The game will feature former Boston Red Sox greats RICK MILLER, OIL CAN BOYD, RICH GEDMAN, BRIAN DAUBACH, AND KEN RYAN. The former Major League All-Star team will include JACK CLARK, AL OLIVER, VIDA BLUE, and KEVIN BASS. These teams will be supported by players from the New Hampshire Baseball League, who have won the right to play with the greats by being a top-tier fund raiser. Key sponsors will also participate in the game.
The former major league players will also conduct a Free Instructional Clinic for kids, ages 8-13. The Clinic will run from 4:00 – 5:15 pm. The stadium gates will open at 3:30 pm and the first 150 kids entering with a paid adult will be admitted to the Clinic. No advance sign up is required to participate. The “Old Timers” game will start at 6:15pm. Please join the NHBL as we “Hit for Kids”, in this vitally important work of helping the Boys and Girls Clubs and the youth of our state grow into caring and responsible adults.
We went to this event last year. Sadly, the American Idol tour was in town that same night, over at the Verizon Wireless Arena, and that overshadowed this very worthwhile charity event. So the turnout wasn’t all that great. But this year, the Idol tour has already hit Manchester, so hopefully, people will want to come to this event. I say that if you can afford stuff like MBT shoes and Idol tickets, you can afford to fork over $10-$15 for this charity event.
I’m for anything that helps keep kids off the streets, out of trouble, and out of the FFA™ (that’s Future FELONS of America). The Boys & Girls Clubs do just that, they give kids something to do, so they have some focus in their lives, and stay out of trouble. So please, if you love baseball, try to come to this game. I have already ordered my tickets, and am looking forward to attending.
Hope to see you there! ![]()
